My New Camera

I recently bought a new camera, a Canon EOS 40D camera, which had come very well recommended, and of course I had to try it out so early one morning I found myself down at the nearest beach to see the sun rise and to see how the camera captured this.

It seemed to cope with the beach side conditions very well so the next stop was the Royal National Park where the mist was still rising from the water and the sun, shining down through the mist, added a dreamy look to the photos I took.

Since I started this blog I have 'stitched' the two images above together to make a large one.

...with a few minor alterations to improve the image.

By this time the sun was well and truly risen so knowing of a lookout a few miles down the coast from the National Park, I drove down to try the camera out on the wide panoramic view that could be seen from there.

From the Sublime Point Lookout the next stop was the Nan Tien Buddhist Temple at Unanderra. This is the largest Buddhist Temple in the Southern Hemisphere with beautifully landscaped peaceful gardens surrounding it.

From the Temple the next stop was at Kiama. I had hoped to take some photographs of the Blowhole in action but unfortunately the sea was too calm and the waves were from the wrong direction so the Blowhole just wasn't blowing. I had to make do with the pelicans which were hanging around hoping to be fed and what a good subject they were !

Service is a little slow around here.....

A friend suggested that these three looked like a godfather with his two henchmen.

One more jump should do it......

Now that's what I call a hurdle - Beijing here I come !

The camera exceeded my expectations so as by this time it was well into the afternoon I decided to make way home again before the threatened thunderstorm arrived.

I am now planning a few more days out around Sydney to take even more photographs.
